ロバート・ジェームス・フィッシャー
“ボビー”ロバート・ジェームス・フィッシャー（Robert James Fischer, 1943年3月9日 - ）は、シカゴ生まれのチェスプレイヤー。チェスの世界チャンピオン（1972年 - 1975年）。「米国の英雄」あるいは「幻の英雄」とも呼ばれる。チェス960を考案した。
1972年、レイキャヴィークで行なわれた世界選手権でボリス・スパスキーを敗り世界チャンピオンとなる。
1975年、防衛戦の運営をめぐり世界チェス連盟と対立し、不戦敗で失冠。その後、長くチェス界から姿を消していたが、1992年、突然復帰しユーゴスラビアでスパスキーと再現試合を行ない、勝利した。これにより300万ドル以上の賞金を得たが、アメリカのユーゴスラビアに対する経済制裁措置違反として起訴され、再び消息不明になる。この起訴をフィッシャー氏自身は、反ユダヤ主義発言と反米発言に対する政治的迫害であると信じている。
日本に在住との噂があったが、2004年7月14日、成田空港からフィリピンへ出国しようとしたところを入国管理法違反の疑いで東京入国管理局成田空港支局に収容された。
その後、アメリカ政府は身柄引き渡しを要求したが、フィッシャー側は拒否していた。2005年3月21日アイスランド政府がフィッシャーに対して市民権を与える措置をとったため、日本政府はフィッシャーのアイスランドへの出国を認めた。
