체스
체스는 가로와 세로가 각각 8줄씩 64칸으로 된 판에서 두 명의 경기자가 말들을 규칙에 따라 움직여 서로 상대방의 왕(킹)을 잡는 경기이다. 서양장기라고도 한다. 한 명이 흑을, 한 명이 백을 잡고 경기한다.
세계적으로 체스경기가 2년마다 열린다. 체스올림픽등이 세계에서 열리고 있다. 체스는 왕후귀족의 놀이였으나 현재는 두뇌 스포츠로서 전세계에 보급되었고 그중에 러시아에 세계챔피언이 많다.
