Šachy
Šach (z perského slova šáh, označujícího perského panovníka) je klasická desková hra pro 2 hráče. Hraje se na čtvercové desce 8×8 polí, každý hráč má na počátku hry celkem 16 kamenů šesti druhů (8 pěšců, 2 věže, 2 střelci, 2 jezdci, 1 dáma a 1 král). V každém tahu pohne každý hráč jedním kamenem, přičemž hru zahajuje hráč hrající bílými kameny (druhý hráč má černé). Cílem hry je mat, takové napadení soupeřova krále, které nelze odvrátit. Předpokládá se, že hra vznikla úpravou indické hry čaturanga.
