Skák er borðspil sem tveir leikmenn (skákmenn) spila á borði sem skipt er í átta reiti að lengd og átta að breidd, eða samtals 64 reitir.
Skák er ævagamall leikur, listgrein, íþróttagrein, þraut og barátta. Talið er að hún sé upprunalega vestur-indversk.
Skákgyðjan heitir Caissa. Hún var gerð árið 1763 af Sir William Jones.
