Korespondenční šach
Korespondenční šach (zastarale též teoretický či analytický šach) je obecné označení pro hraní šachu přes prostředky dálkové komunikace bez pohledu z očí do očí. Pokud není stanoveno jinak, považuje se za samozřejmé, že hráči mohou využívat veškeré dostupné prostředky podpory: knihy, rady známých i počítačových programů, přehrávání si pozice na šachovnici. Existuje organizace ICCF (International Correspondence Chess Federation), přidružená k FIDE a vydávající pravidla pro korespondenční šach, platná u většiny oficiálních turnajů v korespondenčním šachu. Obvyklou formou odesílání tahů bylo dříve užití telegrafu či korespondenčních lístků, dnes je tento tradiční způsob potlačován hrou přes e-mail či speciální šachová rozhraní na internetu.
