Garri Kasparov
Garri Kimovitsj Kasparov (Russisch: Гарри Кимович Каспаров) (Bakoe, Azerbeidzjan, 13 april 1963) is een Russische schaker. Toen hij zeven jaar was overleed zijn vader. Zijn eerste successen als jeugdspeler boekte hij als Harry Weinstein. Op zijn twaalfde nam hij een gerussificeerde versie van de naam van zijn moeder (Kasparova) aan. Kasparov is grootmeester en was wereldkampioen van 1985 tot 2000; hij domineerde gedurende die periode het topschaak.
