Vladimir Kramnik
Vladimir Kramnik [en cyrillique Владимир Крамник] est un joueur d'échec russe né le 25 juin 1975, à Touapse (alors en URSS, près de la mer Noire).
Kramnik est Grand-maître international d'échecs et est champion du monde PCA-Brain Games (une branche parallèle et concurrente des championnats du monde FIDE, créée par Garry Kasparov) depuis 2000 où il a battu Garry Kasparov .
Il conserve son titre mondial en battant Péter Lékó en 2004 à Brissago.
En septembre 2005, il refuse de participer au Championnat du Monde FIDE en Argentine, qui voit la victoire de Veselin Topalov.
Compte tenu de ses résultats 2004 et 2005 plutôt décevants, il est en avril 2006 9e au classement mondial par points de la FIDE avec un Elo de 2729 (alors que Veselin Topalov a un classement Elo de 2804).
Le 14 avril 2006, en pleine campagne pour la réélection de son président, la FIDE annonce par l'intermédiaire du site Chessbase un match de réunification pour le titre mondial[1] entre Kramnik et Topalov pour septembre 2006.
Du 25 novembre 2006 au 5 décembre 2006 Kramnik affrontera le logiciel Deep Fritz dans un match en six parties.
