Thibault de Vassal
Those strange joseki again... :)

Timothy Cookson
I think you mean Fuseki Thibault. They didn't play a half bad Joseki.

Thibault de Vassal
Thanks Thimothy, I should learn the terms better, indeed

Simon Zeckarias
Seems like c11 was quite slack, to allow black to play m5 wasn't IMO a good idea. W still can't attack the d6/d9 stones as these are on 4th line and m4 helps b so much to defend the stones.

Here are the names of the openings (joseki) played in the four corners :

Corner d4 : c3 d6

San-San (Sam-Sam, San-San) 3-3 Point.
The San-San (3-3) point, emphasizing territory at the expense of influence.

Niken Takagakari (Dukan Nop'dakeolch'im, E`r Gaogua`jiao~, 2-Space High Approach).
White may continue with 4-5 or 4-6. White 4-6 works well when White is in the lower right (so an extension in the middle works both ways). The more conservative 4-5 is makes a slightly tighter shape (better for a fight).

Corner q16 : q15 p17

Takamoku (Gomok, Gaomu`) 5-4 Point.
The takamoku (high) point (5-4). With its emphasis on influence, the 5-4 point complements the 4-4 (hoshi) point in creating an influence-oriented fuseki.

Corner q4 : r5 q3

Mokuhazushi (Waemok, Wai`mu`) 5-3 Point.
The mokuhazushi (5-3) point was popular in the Edo period in Japan (1600 - 1867). It emphasizes influence; territorially, it is inferior to the 3-4 point.

Komoku Kakari.
White 2 is the standard approach because of its solidity and stability.

Player Black won this Go (weiqi, baduk) game.
