Comment by Graham Cridland :

I enjoyed analyzing this game immensely, played in my first FICGS tourney. Black is worse throughout, especially if you ask an analysis engine. But in reality it requires a leap of faith to make any progress at any stage for White.

For Black's part, I enjoyed 25...h6! giving up the c pawn to gain control of the file and activate the rooks. White can decline the sacrifice by Ra3, looking to take a6 instead. Then ...Qc8 lets out White's last piece and ...g5 doesn't seem to serve any purpose; Black's queen isn't going to do much more damage with the g-pawns missing with the rooks on the eighth rank.

Les pièces de l'échiquier étaient impitoyables. Elles le retenaient, elles l'absorbaient. Il y avait de l'horreur en cela, mais aussi une harmonie unique. Car, qu'y a-t-il dans le monde, à part les échecs ? (V. Nabokov)

Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age. Sometimes age just shows up all by itself. (Tom Wilson)
