Michel Cymès in House M.D.
These last days, a rumor invaded french forums, Michel Cymès, a french tv animator on France 5 would have played a french doctor in the famous tv series House M.D. with Hugh Laurie. Actually it was a hoax, but what a hoax, actually a parody to promote a website around medecine. Very well done

La rumeur a envahi les forums français ces derniers jours, Michel Cymès, le mythique animateur du Journal de la Santé sur France 5, aurait joué le rôle d'un docteur français dans Dr. House, rumeur démentie par la vidéo du canular, plus exactement d'une publicité pour un site internet au contenu tourné vers la médecine et qui aura finalement fait un énorme buzz sur la toile.
Après ses échanges récents par télévision interposée avec Christine Boutin, l'animateur aura profité d'une exposition vraiment impressionnante cette semaine.

Facebook terms of use
This month, an enormous buzz has been created around Facebook's terms of use, each day we see a new group inside Facebook around this topic, but is there any reason for this ?
Like any other successful creation, Facebook has to face jealousy & imitations but this may be the way internet goes only : A few weblogs will always find a "Da Vinci Code"-like way to reveal a new 'scandal'. Facebook is the perfect victim, it most probably has lawyers who write as perfect as possible terms & conditions of use but it firstly has to protect itself when the principle of the website creates obvious problems by its content, mainly made of personal content.
The Facebook's terms of use :
You hereby grant Facebook an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid, worldwide license (with the right to sublicense) to (a) use, copy, publish, stream, store, retain, publicly perform or display, transmit, scan, reformat, modify, edit, frame, translate, excerpt, adapt, create derivative works and distribute (through multiple tiers), any User Content you (i) Post on or in connection with the Facebook Service or the promotion thereof subject only to your privacy settings or (ii) enable a user to Post, including by offering a Share Link on your website and (b) to use your name, likeness and image for any purpose, including commercial or advertising, each of (a) and (b) on or in connection with the Facebook Service or the promotion thereof.
Only one line deleted was enough to create the buzz :
You may remove your User Content from the Site at any time. If you choose to remove your User Content, the license granted above will automatically expire, however you acknowledge that the Company may retain archived copies of your User Content.
Such titles then appeared in well known websites & newspapers and Facebook had to react quickly :
"Do you belong to Facebook, forever?" [Chicago Tribune]
"Facebook: "We have never claimed ownership" of members' content" [The Standard]
Quite funny after all, just one more viral hoax... Do you really think that Facebook would suicide by using any bad way your personal informations ? As for me I don't think so. Of course Facebook has to make money, it still loses several million dollars, but I have no doubt they will find a correct way.

Ce mois-ci, le buzz tourne à nouveau indéniablement autour de Facebook, le plus incontournable des réseaux sociaux. Le problème vient de ses termes et conditions d'utilisations, que certains sites n'hésitent pas à dénoncer dès lors que la moindre ligne change. Il est vrai que la question des données personnelles a toujours été et restera sensible tant internet s'est emparé de nos vies privées.
Pas un jour ne passe sans que se crée un nouveau groupe sur Facebook dénonçant ce genre de dangers et le principe même du site. Alors, Facebook victime de son succès, de la jalousie, de ses concurrents, ou est-ce simplement comme cela que fonctionne désormais internet ?
Faire du "buzz" est évidemment le moyen le plus sûr de rentabiliser un journal ou un site web, et certains n'hésiteront pas à trouver des défauts à quiconque en fait (façon pratique d'emprunter un peu de sa popularité), défauts démontrés par A+B façon "Da Vinci Code" là où bien sûr il n'y a souvent rien à trouver. Qui peut imaginer que Facebook ira utiliser des données personnelles d'une façon nuisible ? Ce serait tuer la poule aux oeufs d'or, il n'y a aucun intérêt à cela. Bien entendu Facebook a un sérieux problème, il n'est pas encore rentable, mais la société vaut plus d'un milliard de dollars, nul doute qu'ils trouveront un moyen, ce n'est qu'une question de temps.

Barrack Obama's victory in the race to the White House is already used by hackers who instantly sent tens of new hoaxes offering to download a video of speeches by Barrack Obama or even a porn video with the new president of the U.S. But of course you'll have to download an update of your video player first, containing a worm/virus. McAfee, Symantec, Sophos and Websense recommand you to be careful when receiving such emails !

La victoire historique de Barrack Obama dans la course à la maison blanche a déjà été prise à bon compte par les hackers qui ont envoyé des dizaines de nouveaux canulars doublés de virus, offrant par exemple de télécharger des vidéos des discours de Barrack Obama et même une vidéo X 'exclusive' du successeur de George W. Bush. Mais bien entendu vous devrez d'abord mettre à jour votre lecteur multimédia, installant au passage un joli Cheval de Troie. Les éditeurs de logiciels antivirus (McAfee, Symantec, Sophos, Websense) vous recommandent donc d'être plus que jamais vigilants si vous recevez de tels emails !

If internet search traffic does mean anything, Sarah Palin (the republican vice-president candidate and governor of Alaska) has become the center of all interests in a few weeks only. Just like Barack Obama - who now would be a muslim - rumours & hoaxes are invading the internet about Sarah Palin's hot pictures, pictures that actually exist but of course that are just photos of some porn actresses that can be easily modified with a software like Adobe Photoshop. But even such rumours may change the cards, the run to the US white house may be not over yet.

Si les statistiques des moteurs de recherche (Google, Yahoo, Live...) sur internet signifient toutefois quelquechose, Sarah Palin (la candidate à la vice-présidence américaine de John McCain) est bel et bien devenue le centre de tous les intérêts en quelques semaines seulement. Tout comme au sujet du candidat démocrate Barack Obama - dont une rumeur dit qu'il serait musulman - les hoaxes fusent et les photos osées de Sarah Palin, en bikini ou en actrice de X, envahissent le net. Des photos qui ne sont bien entendu que des montages réalisés avec un logiciel grand public comme Photoshop. Mais même les rumeurs les plus absurdes ont un impact et pourraient bien changer la donne en faveur de McCain. La course à la maison blanche n'est pas encore terminée.

Tout le monde a déjà reçu un courrier électronique lui annonçant une offre d'emploi, un gain à un jeu quelconque, un système d'affiliation pyramidal ou un nouveau type de virus. Souvent envoyé par un ami, le message est en général annoncé comme très urgent. Le réflexe premier est donc de renvoyer le message à toutes ses connaissances, qui feront à leur tour la même chose et ainsi de suite jusqu'à ce que le message fasse de nombreuses fois le tour du monde.
Vous vous êtes ainsi et comme beaucoup sans doute fait piéger, mais les hoax (canulars) ont des conséquences souvent bien plus graves. De l'atteinte à la vie privée en passant par les nombreux dérapages, les dangers sont très réels.
Ainsi si votre antivirus (par exemple AVG Antivirus) vous indique un nouveau problème au doux nom de EXPL_ANICMOO.GEN, ADW_AGENT.VJS, JS_DLOADER.NUF, WORM_NETSKY.P, POSSIBLE_MLWR-5, HTML_NETSKY.P, WORM_RBOT.APT, POSSIBLE_INFOSTL, WORM_NYXEM.E, POSSIBLE_NUCRP-3, il est plus que possible que vous ayiez cliqué sur un lien transmis par l'un de ces emails malveillants sans protection adaptée.
