Problem with my telephone line

Hello, I would like to know why my telephone line is so bad and if it is possible to change something with that. My impression with each time I telephone my neighbors is that my corresponding is in China or worse still, the sound is bad, remote, and full with noise.

I live in the countryside but I do not believe that that explains the quality of the line, you know if there can be another explanation to this problem? I believe that FranceTelecom will repair any more the lines, no interest for them, or the price will be too high for us and I cannot telephone with Internet (except with Skype), my situation is a little special.

Obviously there are the mobile telephones and I reflect to give up the land line but my confidence for the operators is also limited, that seems to me risky.

You know if one can call all the numbers and be called by everyone with Skype? If you have an idea, thank you to leave a message.
