Legality of the sites of subtitles

Hello, after having read that French sites of film subtitles were threatened by Warner, I wondered whether all these sites were really illegal.

Which part of film is really protected, undoubtedly the music and the film, but that to say photographs extracted film used everywhere on Internet, in particular on the sites created by impassioned thus the consumers, and of the extracted dialogues that all the sites use, to start with Wikiquotes. Are the subtitles really illegal in your opinion?
