First cloned monkey embryo

Over 10 years after Dolly the sheep, a U.S. team led by Shoukhrat Mitalipov of the Oregon National Primate Research Center, has created the first cloned monkey embryo and extracted stem cells from it, bringing the possibility of growing new organs and curing genetic diseases.
Cloning of human beings is not far away but anyway it doesn't mean much, a human clone wouldn't be a perfect copy of the original one, only the genetic code is exactly the same. In example a clone of your cat won't even look like the original.

Plus de 10 ans après le mouton Dolly, une équipe américaine menée par Shoukhrat Mitalipov de l'Oregon National Primate Research Center, a créé le premier embryon de singe cloné et en a extrait des cellules souches, amenant par là la possibilité de développer de nouveaux organes et de soigner des maladies génétiques.
Le clonage d'êtres humains n'est plus très loin mais cela ne signifie pas forcément grand chose, un clone humain ne serait pas une copie à l'identique de l'original, seul le code génétique est exactement le même. Un clone de votre chat, par exemple, ne ressemblerait pas forcément à l'original, son manteau ne serait pas le même.
