Firebird Chess Engine

I am trying to download the Firebird free chess engine but am having quite a bit of difficulty downloading it.I have BitZipper and 7Zip, which i used to unzip the files but when i try extracting nothing seems to be happening.I am getting .rar extensions and nothing that resembles a .exe file that will allow me to open up Firebird.Can someone guide nme through the steps as to how to do this? Thanks, bigalster

Hi, if you downloaded Firebird 1.2 here, you need WinRar to extract it, it works fine!

thx alot thibault, i managed to create a new GUI in my Chessbase 10 and extract it and it worked, thx for tyour help

i m unable to run firebird.. its already downloaded but when i open it its not open

Hi, you have to create a new UCI engine in Chessbase (if you use it), see Engines > UCI (or something like that)

I set 2 matches of different time controls between Rybka and Firebird (no opening book). Firebird is overwhelming in a longer time control. In a 30 minute match of 4 games, each won a game. However in 60 minute match, Firebird won the first two games and was winning on the third when the Firebird engine stopped working. I restarted the match, Firebird won the first game... the match is still in progress.

I've made a test match between rybka w32 and fire 1.31 w32. Here are the results :
- in blitz 5mn : 2 wins for fire 1.31
- in semi-blitz 25mn : 2 wins for fire 1.31

no doubt that fire is the best chess engine ever.
great job to fire's team.

Anybody please help. I wanted to download the firebird here when I press download it opens with itunes. What should I do please help

Huh, I have no idea sorry... I don't know anything about Itunes (and I don't want to know)
