Go: life and death

Here is another live and death problem. If the problem seems very easy to you, either you fell in the trap, or you are already rather strong!
Black to play and live!

Thinking...

May the trap be d2 ? .. There are two ways to make this eye and connect, so we have to play something on the other side... To get several possibilities to make an eye while connecting h2 chain to e2 chain, Black must play in g1 and h1, but playing in h1 instantly looses... So g1, White can only try h1, then j1 and I see no more problems.

Is the way of think not too bad or I'm completely wrong ? .. (If I'm right, I won't write solutions anymore for problems that I think I'm able to solve easily)

Lionel Vidal    (2006-11-14 16:15:04)
Nope, try again!

While d1-d2 is indeed an eye, your solution fails: Bg1,Wh1,Bj1... and then Wh1 again to take 3 black stones :-) This is called a snapback.

Thinking (bis)...

Okay, I tried all possibilites in my mind, so I finally found :)

My very first idea was not so bad... but an hallucination, then I didn't enquiry far enough. The theme looks like to the first problem you posted. Thanks for interesting problems !

Lionel Vidal    (2006-11-14 18:44:32)
Are you sure?

Your first post did mention the key, but as an instantly loosing move! Are you sure of your solution ? :-)
The theme of this problem is called 'play under the stones'.

Thibault de Vassal    (2006-11-14 18:53:58)
Sure ? .. never :-)

Here is my sequence : h1 j1 g1 f1.. now h2 ! .. natural & sufficient move. Black forces White to fill his liberties to catch him first.

Wrong again ??

Lionel Vidal    (2006-11-14 19:08:15)
Bravo!

That's it!
Ok then, next problems will be much more challenging :-)

Grindel Redmage    (2006-11-29 15:08:32)
g1

this is easy

Thibault de Vassal    (2006-11-29 15:14:33)
wrong...

g1 does not work, read the comments ;)
