Diabetes lead to poor blood flow or changes in the shape of your feet or toes may also cause problems. In this article we will be listing the foot problems one suffers due to diabetes,

Neuropathy

It is a condition which happens due to nerve damage. This condition causes a lot pain but the serious part is that the diabetic nerve damage can also lessen your ability to feel pain, heat, and cold. Loss of feeling often means you may not feel a foot injury. You could get hit and get your leg bruised without even knowing. This bruising can cause skin damage and infection. It can also lead to deformation of toes and legs. Ask your doctor to refer you therapeutic or diabetic shoes.

Skin Changes

Diabetes can cause changes in the skin of your foot. It can cause peeling and cracking of foot. It happens due to damage of nerves which controls oil and moisture in your foot. To prevent your foot from dryness and cracks moisture them well after the bath. Prefer using luke warm water for bathing. Ask your physician to recommend antiseptic cream which can sustain appropriate moisture in your leg.

Calluses

A callus is a toughened area of skin which has become relatively thick and hard in response to repeated friction, pressure, or other irritation. This is a common problem in diabetic patients. If they are not treated it may get thick, break down and turn into ulcers. To prevent them regularly clean your feet whenever you remove your shoes to maintain cleanliness. To relieve from the pressure start wearing Diabetic shoes which are of proper fit for your feet.

Foot Ulcers

Ulcers mostly occur on the ball of the foot or on the bottom of the big toes. Again the major reason of its occurrence is ill fitted shoes. The vulnerability of this condition increases in a diabetic patient and the condition worsens. Firstly treat the ulcers using proper medication. Take prescribed antibiotics and apply ointments to get relief. If these ulcers are left untreated it can spread the infection and may cause limb loss. Keep your feet clean in this condition.

Many people with diabetes suffer from peripheral arterial disease (PAD), which reduces blood flow to the feet. Diabetes condition has nerve damage which reduces the sensation in the leg.
