Sony HXR-NX5E AVCHD Video Clips to Final Cut Pro or Adobe PPro on Mac

Ideally, Adobe Premiere Pro shall work with the mts files from Sony NXCAM NXR-NX5P. However, it does not work for me yet, as I encountered audio issues when trying to import my Sony NXR-NX5P videos to PPro. For the Apple editing software Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Express, the process is straightforward, and the AVCHD clips will be converter into the Apple Pro Res 422 codec using the Log & Transfer method.

Even though it would not take a long time loading the AVCHD video clips to Final Cut Pro, you may notice that the large file size for Apple ProRes 422 codec. If you would like to edit video with smaller file size and make the video editing quicker, you can try Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac to run all footage before editing in Final Cut.

Follow the steps below and you will find it easy to convert Sony HXR-NX5E MTS to MOV for Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro on Mac with smooth playback for editing, getting rid of the audio issues.

Step 1. Download Sony HXR-NX5E files to Apple computer.
Connect Sony NXCAM HXR-NX5E camcorder to Apple computer via USB cable, find the .mts files with naming like 00001.MTS, 00002.MTS, 00003.MTS from the camera folder like CAM_MEM > AVCHD > BDMV > STREAM. Then copy and transfer the .mts files from camera to the Apple hard drive disk.

Step 4. Convert Sony AVCHD MTS to MOV for FCP or PPro.
