How to make Meta tags ?

For programmers who just start to build their web pages in HTML and who don't want to use a software like Dreamweaver, here is a template to make meta tags :

<title>The name of your page</title>

<meta name="description" content="A description for your page." />

<meta name="keywords" content="a, few, keywords, up, to, ten" />



<meta name="robots" content="index, follow, noodp" />

<meta name="reply-to" content="spam(at)yourwebsite.com" />

<meta name="category" content="category" />

<meta name="distribution" content="global" />

<meta name="revisit-after" content="15 days" />

<meta name="author" content="Your name" />

<meta name="copyright" content="Your name" />

<meta name="identifier-url" content="ht*p://www.votresite.com" />

<meta name="expires" content="never" />

<meta name="Date-Creation-yyyymmdd" content="20060401" />

<meta name="Date-Revision-yyyymmdd" content="<?  $date_head = getdate(time());  print $date_head['year'];  if ($date_head['mon'] < 10)  print '0';  print $date_head['mon'];  ?>01" />

You'll notice the two ways to display the icon of your website, one for Internet Explorer, one for the other navigators like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opéra...

It is recommended to use 10 keywords at most and to have a description of 50 keywords at most, the other parameters are more or less ignored by most search engines but it is always better to have it.

I recommend to put this in a PHP file that you may include in all your other pages with the include() PHP function.
