Microsoft offered astronomic amounts of money to try to buy Yahoo to try to rivalize with Google, but anyway Facebook is the new king with more than 150 million users with its incredible micro-blogging platform and could be sold for tens of million dollars, but what is the real value of a company that constantly loses money and does not find a real solution ?
Of course Facebook now could make a lot of money but it wouldn't be totally free anymore and another one would take the place. Many people successfully use Facebook in their work, build applications that can be used in Facebook, this is now a parallel economy like we saw it in "Second Life". Facebook is a great service, available in almost every language and yes, it is free... and losing money. Nowadays you may have to suicide your business to succeed, quite strange.

Bien entendu, Facebook pourrait dès aujourd'hui gagner de l'argent mais il ne serait plus totalement gratuit et un autre prendrait rapidement sa place. De très nombreuses personnes utilisent Facebook avec succès dans leur travail, développent des applications qui peuvent être utilisées à l'intérieur même de Facebook, tout cela représente une nouvelle économie parallèle comme on en a déjà vu dans "Second Life". Facebook est un service étonnant et complet, disponible dans pratiquement toutes les langues et oui, Facebook est gratuit... et perd de l'argent. A l'heure actuelle pour faire réussir votre entreprise, vous devez commencer par la suicider. Etonnant, non ?

Like any other successful creation, Facebook has to face jealousy & imitations but this may be the way internet goes only : A few weblogs will always find a "Da Vinci Code"-like way to reveal a new 'scandal'. Facebook is the perfect victim, it most probably has lawyers who write as perfect as possible terms & conditions of use but it firstly has to protect itself when the principle of the website creates obvious problems by its content, mainly made of personal content.
The Facebook's terms of use :
You hereby grant Facebook an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid, worldwide license (with the right to sublicense) to (a) use, copy, publish, stream, store, retain, publicly perform or display, transmit, scan, reformat, modify, edit, frame, translate, excerpt, adapt, create derivative works and distribute (through multiple tiers), any User Content you (i) Post on or in connection with the Facebook Service or the promotion thereof subject only to your privacy settings or (ii) enable a user to Post, including by offering a Share Link on your website and (b) to use your name, likeness and image for any purpose, including commercial or advertising, each of (a) and (b) on or in connection with the Facebook Service or the promotion thereof.
Only one line deleted was enough to create the buzz :

Such titles then appeared in well known websites & newspapers and Facebook had to react quickly :

Quite funny after all, just one more viral hoax... Do you really think that Facebook would suicide by using any bad way your personal informations ? As for me I don't think so. Of course Facebook has to make money, it still loses several million dollars, but I have no doubt they will find a correct way.

Ce mois-ci, le buzz tourne à nouveau indéniablement autour de Facebook, le plus incontournable des réseaux sociaux. Le problème vient de ses termes et conditions d'utilisations, que certains sites n'hésitent pas à dénoncer dès lors que la moindre ligne change. Il est vrai que la question des données personnelles a toujours été et restera sensible tant internet s'est emparé de nos vies privées.
Pas un jour ne passe sans que se crée un nouveau groupe sur Facebook dénonçant ce genre de dangers et le principe même du site. Alors, Facebook victime de son succès, de la jalousie, de ses concurrents, ou est-ce simplement comme cela que fonctionne désormais internet ?
Faire du "buzz" est évidemment le moyen le plus sûr de rentabiliser un journal ou un site web, et certains n'hésiteront pas à trouver des défauts à quiconque en fait (façon pratique d'emprunter un peu de sa popularité), défauts démontrés par A+B façon "Da Vinci Code" là où bien sûr il n'y a souvent rien à trouver. Qui peut imaginer que Facebook ira utiliser des données personnelles d'une façon nuisible ? Ce serait tuer la poule aux oeufs d'or, il n'y a aucun intérêt à cela. Bien entendu Facebook a un sérieux problème, il n'est pas encore rentable, mais la société vaut plus d'un milliard de dollars, nul doute qu'ils trouveront un moyen, ce n'est qu'une question de temps.

Tout le monde a déjà reçu un courrier électronique lui annonçant une offre d'emploi, un gain à un jeu quelconque, un système d'affiliation pyramidal ou un nouveau type de virus. Souvent envoyé par un ami, le message est en général annoncé comme très urgent. Le réflexe premier est donc de renvoyer le message à toutes ses connaissances, qui feront à leur tour la même chose et ainsi de suite jusqu'à ce que le message fasse de nombreuses fois le tour du monde.
Vous vous êtes ainsi et comme beaucoup sans doute fait piéger, mais les hoax (canulars) ont des conséquences souvent bien plus graves. De l'atteinte à la vie privée en passant par les nombreux dérapages, les dangers sont très réels.
Ainsi si votre antivirus (par exemple AVG Antivirus) vous indique un nouveau problème au doux nom de EXPL_ANICMOO.GEN, ADW_AGENT.VJS, JS_DLOADER.NUF, WORM_NETSKY.P, POSSIBLE_MLWR-5, HTML_NETSKY.P, WORM_RBOT.APT, POSSIBLE_INFOSTL, WORM_NYXEM.E, POSSIBLE_NUCRP-3, il est plus que possible que vous ayiez cliqué sur un lien transmis par l'un de ces emails malveillants sans protection adaptée.

Facebook vs. Second Life
Which one will implode first ?
A few months ago, casino games have been forbidden in Second Life, an event said to mark the beginning of the end for this virtual world, which had become quite real since Linden Dollars may be exchanged with real money. No doubt that real laws will quickly invade this other real world, where money & sexual issues are real problems. During this time, other virtual worlds appear ie. "Outback Online", "There", even more realistic, it will be hard to control everything.
Facebook now claims more than 50 million users in the world, evaluated to several billion US dollars. Hard not to hear about it in the news these days. 30 minutes, that's the time I spent to explore this community before to deactivate my account by all ways. No more time on MySpace, what then ?

Il y a quelques mois, les jeux de casino ont été interdits dans Second Life, un événement pouvant marquer le début de la fin de ce monde virtuel, qui était devenu très réel étant donné que l'on pouvait y échanger des dollars Linden avec de l'argent réel. Les "vraies" lois vont sans aucun doute envahir ce monde parallèle, où les sujets autour de l'argent et du sexe sont devenus de vrais problèmes. Pendant ce temps, d'autres mondes virtuels apparaissents, "Outback online", "There", toujours plus réalistes, il sera bientôt difficile de tout contrôler.
Facebook est le buzz du moment, on lui prête plus de 50 millions d'utilisateurs dans le monde, évalué à plusieurs millions de dollars US. Difficile de ne pas en entendre parler dans les nouvelles ces derniers jours. 30 minutes, c'est le temps que j'ai passé à explorer cette communauté avant de désactiver mon compte par tous les moyens.
