Utilizing a mouse to move can often lead you to face them in the wrong direction, which makes your attacks bounce in harmless space (and fortunately, if clicking to move doesn't work, Lost Ark has controller support).
If there are any mechanics needed to determine weaknesses of your opponent and making use of it to win, I haven't found it. Bosses don't really present a threat. As I've observed they're just damage sponges with several health bars to chew. While visually appealing and a powerful feeling, combat with Lost Ark doesn't get complicated beyond the point of clicking, and winning.
