Park explained that the agreement does not give Amazon the right to publish Lost Ark globally, only in specific regions that are part of Europe, Oceania, and the Americas. This makes it difficult to determine when or if Lost Ark might arrive in new territories.
Another pertinent question is why it took so long to wait for Lost Ark to arrive in the West. After all, the game's Korean release was in 2019, however it was only released internationally this year. Park was unable to provide any reason to explain why Amazon did not approach Smilegate sooner but noted that Amazon took the decision following the success of Lost Ark throughout the East.
He points out that entertainment is increasingly international and global, with Korean music, films and TV shows starting to be successful throughout the West. According to Park, it's only natural that Korean video games will follow in the footsteps of other games. Amazon, it seems, was simply the first American company to take advantage of the gaming potential in Korea.
Amazon and Smilegate are expected to "consider" Lost Ark console port
Amazon Games and Smilegate would "consider" an Xbox game porting Lost Ark, if fans were interested in it.
Speaking to VG247, Amazon Games' franchise director Soomin Park was asked about whether the game will be released on Xbox and PlayStation particularly following the huge success of the main competitor Diablo 3.
"If Lost Ark on consoles is something fans truly want, then it's something both parties would think about," he said.
When it comes to Diablo, Park did allude to the rivalry between the long-running Blizzard series. "We certainly believe there's an possibility for Lost Ark to establish itself as a major player which is evident by the success that the game has seen so far cheap Lost Ark Gold," he said.
