"Sometimes it's frustrating because it can lead to false expectations. That's what I saw when we first announced Tropical Freeze D2R Items. Everyone was like 'they're working on some kind of Zelda game They're working on something like a Zelda game,' but like nope. Then we released Tropical Freeze and it looks phenomenal and it's gorgeous looking and then people say 'oh but it's another Donkey Kong.'
You then realize that people are going on about the Neogaf show or whatever and you're like , 'oh my okay, well, everyone thought we were playing an Zelda game. And then you realize there's no way that's what people do.' It's both humorous at times. it, but sometimes it becomes aggravating when it continues for a time," said Kozlowsky.
Kozlowsky's words are a fascinating glimpse into the ways in which rumors get spread and how it could negatively impact a game's reception. Although Tropical Freeze might not have been the game that fans were hoping to find out about however, it was praised by the critics with high review upon its debut.
It can be a bit frustrating to put hard work into something and then have the internet respond with dismay based on incorrect rumors. It's impossible to anticipate the reaction of fans to an announcement about a game, however, hopefully this experience taught some fans the importance of being aware of their expectations!
