Federal health officials announced the number of chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis cases continue to rise. 1,030,911 cases of chlamydia in United States in 2006, because of underreporting, a more accurate estimate is 2.8 million new chlamydia cases annually. The chlamydia microbe can cause pelvic inflammatory disease and resulting abdominal pain, ectopic pregnancy and infertility in women. The black to white ratios seem to be gonorrhea 18 to 1, syphilis 6 to 1 and chlamydia 8 to 1, but reasons for the disparities would be not clear. Lack of access to health care may be the main problem.

Les autorités fédérales américaines ont annoncé que le nombre de cas de chlamydia, gonorrhée et syphilis continuait à croitre. 1,030,911 cas de chlamydia aux Etats-Unis en 2006, mais un chiffre estimé serait en réalité de 2.8 millions de nouveaux cas de chlamydia par an. Le microbe de la chlamydia a de graves conséquences dont parfois l'infertilité féminine. Les noirs semblent beaucoup plus touchés que les autres, pour des raisons encore peu claires. Le manque d'accès aux soins serait l'une des causes principales.
