Backlinks and PageRank
Here is an estimation I've just found about the number of external links needed, according to the PageRank of the pages, to get a PageRank x :
1 link from PR x+2
4 links from PR x+1
19 links from PR x
100 links from PR x-1
550 links from PR x-2
3000 links from PR x-3
17000 links from PR x-4
93000 links from PR x-5
500000 links from PR x-6
2800000 links from PR x-7
Well, that doesn't help much for sure as the algorithm is probably so complex now :) .. What do you think ?

Google PageRank goes after paid links
The last update of famous Google's PageRank seems to go after sponsored links, a common way to obtain optimized backlinks on the internet to change Google rankings. Many famous websites like ie. Youtube saw its PageRank falling by several points, but no change would have occured in rankings, finally Youtube got back its PageRank.
Definitely, Pagerank is a perfect tool for Google to control the world wide web.

Selling paid links may hurt Pagerank
These news could change many things on the internet, Google now penalizes websites selling most probably dubious (unrelated) links, to avoid manipulations on Pagerank and Google rankings :

PageRank tool in Google toolbar is false
Hi
This will surprise you after knowing that pagerank tool in toolbar shows wrong information and PageRank is updated after 3 months. PageRank tool always show 3 months old updation. Don’t be fool try to get site that tells true PageRank.

I just added a feature that gives a backlink from ALL pages of this forum / directory (the same for the chess server) to websites that send visitors to FICGS.
Backlinks have a limited lifetime. See at the bottom of the left column... :)

Google’s webmaster console now lets you see your site’s backlinks. Unlike the link: operator, data obtained this way is much more comprehensive and can be classified and downloaded. All you need to do is verify site ownership to see this information.

Google future Pagerank
I read that future Pagerank was calculated with the number of backlinks from Yahoo! search or MSN live search... It seems to me that's completely inaccurate :/
Does anybody knows other methods used to calculated future Pagerank ?
